Police appeal to trace two absconded prisoners with links to the Manchester area


Police are appealing for information to trace two men from Liverpool who have both absconded from Kirkham prison.

Gerard Bailey, 43, from Merseyside, went missing from HMP Kirkham on Sunday 22 February after failing to return from a period of temporary licence.

He is currently serving an eight and a half year sentence which he began in 2011 for possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs. He is known to have links to the Merseyside area, as well as Manchester and Cheshire.

Thomas Brown, 28, also from Merseyside, went missing from HMP Kirkham on Wednesday 25 February. He is currently serving a ten year sentence for a robbery which took place in Derby in 2010. He is also known to have links to the Liverpool area.

The two men are not thought to be together.

Officers are advising members of the public not to approach them but to contact police on 101 if they see them or know of their whereabouts.
