Four hurt and one airlifted to hospital from serious A580 crash


Four people have been hurt in a crash at the junction of Chaddock Lane and the A580 East Lancs Road in Boothstown, Worsley.

Two cars, a Renault Clio and a Ford Fiesta, are understood have collided side-on outside Aman’s restaurant (formerly the Queen’s Arms pub), near the busy junction.

Police, ambulances and the North West Air Ambulance were called to the scene at around 12.40pm today.

Fire crews from Bolton Central and Eccles, along with a Major Response Unit from Leigh, arrived at the scene with specialist cutting equipment, freeing a woman in her 50s from a wrecked Clio.

She was airlifted to Wythenshawe Hospital with serious injuries.

Her passenger was treated at the scene.

A mum and her daughter in the Fiesta were taken by road ambulance to Royal Bolton hospital.

Police closed the road and there was queuing traffic around the scene with extensive delays expected.
