Traffic chaos after woman, 88, hurt in Agecroft Road crash

Agecroft Road in Pendlebury was closed this afternoon after a crash between a van and a car driven by an elderly woman.

The A6044, a busy commuter route, was closed at 4pm today, Wednesday 28 October, between Lumns Lane and the A666 Bolton Road.

The 88-year-old woman suffered suspected chest injuries in the accident, and was taken to Salford Royal hospital for assessment.

Her injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

The road closure has caused extensive knock-on delays in the Swinton area. There is still very slow traffic eastbound on the A666.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said Agecroft Road remained closed, but was due to re-open at around 6.30pm.
