66-year-old man bailed in Monton murder probe


A 66-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder in Monton has been released on police bail.

Police and crime scene investigators were called to a house on Landsdowne Road in Monton, Eccles, in the early hours of Saturday 24 October.

They found a 66-year-old woman had passed away at the scene.

Murder probe launched after woman’s body found in Monton

A Home Office post-mortem has now been completed and police are awaiting the results of further toxicology tests.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Police were called shortly after 3.30am on Saturday 24 October 2015 to a
house on Lansdowne Road in Monton.

“Officers attended and discovered the body of a 66-year-old woman.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

“As part of the investigation a 66-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.”

The man is expected to be called before police in December.
