Coming to The Lowry on Salford Quays from Monday 14 December 2015 to Saturday 2 January 2016 is this classic tale, one of the greatest musicals of all time.
Two lucky families of four will win tickets to this wonderfully lavish new staging of The Sound of Music, which will enchant and enthrall the young (and young at heart).
Based on Baroness Maria von Trapp’s 1949 autobiography, The Sound Of Music tells the true story of the world-famous singing family, from their romantic beginnings and search for happiness, to their thrilling escape to freedom as their beloved Austria becomes part of the Third Reich at the start of the Second World War.
Playing the iconic role of Maria is Lucy O’Byrne. Fresh from her success on BBC One’s The Voice this year, she was mentored by chart-topper Will.i.am and, with her stunning vocal range, shot to success as a finalist in the live shows.
The show also stars award-winning actor and TV heart-throb Gray O’Brien who plays the dashing Captain von Trapp.
The Sound of Music features some of the world’s most memorable songs, including ‘Edelweiss’, ‘My Favorite Things’, ‘Do-Re-Mi’, ‘Climb Ev’ry Mountain’, ‘So Long, Farewell’ and of course, the title song, ‘The Sound of Music’.
