Police appeal after car collides with pregnant woman

At around 7.35pm on Monday 23 November 2015, the 34-year-old woman was
crossing Bury New Road, walking towards Wellington Street West in Higher
Broughton when there was a collision with dark coloured VW Polo or Golf.

The woman was carried on the bonnet of the car for a short distance before
it stopped.

The driver got out and words were exchanged before he got back in the car
and drove off.

He is described as being white, tall, aged in his 20s or 30s and wore
casual clothing.

Police Constable Mike Connolly said: “The woman is five months pregnant
but thankfully the baby is okay. However, the victim suffered broken
bones in her right arm and leg and will undergo surgery soon. I would ask
anyone who may have witnessed the collision or know who the driver is to
call police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 101 or the independent
charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
