Eccles Giving Day Saturday December 12th

For the last three years local councillors in Eccles have organised Eccles Giving Day.

The Idea is simple-councillors will leaflet Eccles households in the run-up to December 12th asking people to look for something out of a cupboard or buy something extra to donate when they do their weekly shopping. They then telephone or e-mails those listed below and volunteers will call round on the Saturday Morning to collect them.

Eccles Giving Day 5

As austerity measures bite more and more people are forced to turn to food banks to feed themselves and their families and the danger is that the Food Banks may run out.

Organisers at one of the local food banks-The Mustard Tree in Eccles Precinct- say that requests for help have shot up in the last 12 months.

Local Councillor Peter Wheeler said “It’s just wrong that in this day and age people have to rely on food banks to feed their families but getting angry doesn’t alter the fact that without them many local families would go hungry. Please support this effort to help local people.”
