Salford Santas get into the festive spirit at the UKFast Santa Run

Hundreds of Santas descended on Salford Quays this weekend (Sunday 29 November) to take part in the annual UKFast Santa Run.

The fun run saw almost 400 Santa’s of all ages, shapes and sizes complete the course around MediaCityUK to help raise money for their own charitable causes. The event also supported Key 103’s Cash for Kids Mission Christmas campaign, with many runners bringing along a gift which was donated to the appeal.

In association with Manchester-based cloud provider UKFast, the race welcomed Salford Red Devil players Junior Sa’u and Ben Murdoch-Masila who started the race and handed out finisher’s medals to everyone and selection boxes to the children.

Race Director Graham Jackson said: “It was great to see so many families and children get into the festive spirit and take part for charity. We even had a couple of animals take part! Everyone made a real effort with their outfits and made the event a day to remember. All runners finished the day a winner and helped raise much needed funds for their charities.”

The race started at MediaCityUK Square and followed a route through the Lowry Plaza at The Lowry Outlet Mall, over the bridge, past the Imperial War Museum and over the Manchester Ship Canal via the bridge before finishing back in MediaCityUK.

No official times were taken but it was UKFast’s Aaron Saxton followed by his colleague Matt Bradley who were first to cross the finish line. Mark Valentine from Chorlton Runners finished in third place.

The fun run was put together by the UK’s leading independent sports tour operator Sports Tours International, the organisers of the ‘We Love Manchester 10K’ and the ‘City of Salford 10K’.
