Worker’s lucky escape in Salford bakery accident

A 33-year-old man suffered injuries to his arm after being trapped in machinery at a Salford bakery.

At 9.20am on Tuesday 1 December ambulance crews and two fire engines from Salford were called to Fresh Choice Bakery on Boston Court at Kansas Avenue.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before Greater Manchester Fire’s Technical Response Unit used specialised cutting equipment to release the trapped man.

He was taken to Salford Royal Hospital where his condition was described as stable.

A scan revealed there was no fracture and the man was discharged from hospital yesterday.

Mr Yousef Aziz, owner at Fresh Choice Bakery told SalfordOnline.com: “This was a small accident which was dealt with at the time, and the authorities including Greater Manchester Police said there will be no further investigation.

“We looked at CCTV and our worker admitted it was his own mistake. However as a precaution we are reviewing our safety and security procedures and I have spoken to all the staff here to make sure an incident of this kind never happens again.”
