A man found with severe head injuries in Eccles remains in a serious condition at Salford Royal hospital.
Police were called to Chapel Street in Patricroft at 2.55am on Saturday 5 December.
He was taken by ambulance to hospital where he required surgery to his face and head.
A number of people have been questioned but no arrests have been made.
Greater Manchester Police updated their information to say that the man is 49, not 55 as previously published.
Enquiries are continuing to discover the circumstances of how the man came to be injured and anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
