Barbara Keeley MP presents Sofie with 1st prize

In September, Barbara Keeley MP invited pupils from primary schools across her Worsley and Eccles South constituency to take part in her 2015 Christmas Card Competition. Nearly 500 primary school pupils took part in this year’s competition.

The winner of this year’s competition is Sofie Musilova, a Year 4 pupil from Peel Hall Primary School in Little Hulton. Sofie’s design is being used as Barbara’s official Christmas Card for 2015.

Second place in Barbara’s competition was awarded to Kelsey Rowlands from Barton Moss Community Primary School.

Runner-up prizes were presented to Robert Booth from St Paul’s CE Primary School (Crompton Street) and Jilliane Bartolo from Christ Church CE Primary School in Eccles. Their designs feature on the back of the Christmas card.

Prizes were also awarded to Phoebe Martin from Peel Hall Primary School and Summer Ratcliffe from St Mary’s CE Primary School in Cadishead.

Barbara said:

“I was delighted to award first prize to Sofie. We had almost 500 entries this year and the standard was very high. It was difficult to choose a winner, but Sofie’s snowman design stood out.

“The designs of the runners up were also very imaginative and they feature on the back of the Christmas card.

“I would like to thank all pupils who took part in the competition, and the staff who worked with them on it. I would also like to thank the prize sponsors The Dean Group, Tesco Extra Irlam, Worsley Park Marriott Hotel, Laser Quest and The Lowry.

“Thanks and well done to everyone across Worsley and Eccles South who took part in or supported the competition.”
