Pictured: Knife-wielding thief threatens two in McColls Swinton robbery

Two young shop assistants were left terrified when a man with a knife threatened them in a robbery.

Despite having his face covered the thief was wearing a distinctive camouflage jacket and police are calling for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time who may have spotted the suspect in the local area.

At about 7pm on Thursday 19 November 2015 the suspect went into the McColls convenience store on Folly Lane in Swinton.

He threatened staff with a blade and left with two cash tills, walking in the direction of the A580 East Lancs Road.

He was wearing a black face covering and a sand-coloured camouflage jacket and spoke with a local accent.

Police have now released a CCTV image of the suspect.

Detective Constable Derek Nellany of Salford division said: “Fortunately, no-one was hurt, but the young two shop assistants were left very shaken, after being threatened with a knife.

“Unfortunately, the photo doesn’t show his face but I am hoping it may jog someone’s memory who may have seen the man in the area at the time of the robbery.

“If you have any information about the incident or you know someone who wears a similar jacket, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 5470, 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
