More road misery for A57 users

Motorists using the A57 Liverpool Road in Irlam are facing even more lengthy delays as works starts today, Monday 4 January between Makro and Barton Moss Road as part of the Port Salford Junction access scheme.

One lane will be shut in both directions as the essential road work takes place.

The work will involve 24 hour lane closures in both directions and is expected to last for seven days.

However this is only the start of what looks to be a nightmare for local motorists already frustated by continual roadworks on the A57 Barton stretch.

Starting on Monday 11 January, 2016 for approximately 5 weeks until 14 February a full time lane closure will be in place at the same stretch, Eccles bound only.

Warrington bound motorists will fare slightly better as the full time lane closure will last until only, 24 January, 2016
