Cyclist hurt in Salford precinct hit and run


Police are looking for a black Fiat Punto after a driver hit a cyclist in Salford and failed to stop.

At around 10.20am this morning officers were called to Fitzwarren Street in Pendleton near the Lidl supermarket.

The driver cut between two cyclists, knocking a man off his pedal bike.

The force of the impact threw the man to the ground, causing leg injuries.

North West Ambulance were called to the scene.

Paramedics treated the man at the roadside but luckily he did not require hospital treatment.

The second cyclist is not believed to have been injured.

The car is believed to be a 57 plate, new-style black Fiat Punto. It drove off in an unknown direction.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
