Woman in critical condition after falling 30ft from M602 Eccles bridge


A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after plunging 30 feet from a bridge over the M602 at Eccles.

Police were called to Albert Road in Eccles this morning, Friday 17 April, at around 5.15am after an eyewitness reported the woman standing at the edge of the railings over the motorway.

She was seen to fall from the bridge onto the road below.

Two lanes on the Manchester-bound side of the M602 was closed while the woman was recovered by paramedics.

She was taken to Salford Royal Hospital where she remains critically ill.

Part of the scene near Emerson House was cordoned off by police.

Salford CID are continuing to investigate the scene and Albert Road bridge remains closed.

The exit to the A576 Trafford Park from the M602 remains closed.
