55-year-old woman dies after fall from Eccles M602 bridge


A 55-year-old woman has tragically died after falling from a motorway bridge over the M602 this morning, Friday 17 April.

Police were called to Albert Road bridge in Eccles at 5.20am after an eyewitness saw the woman plunge 30ft to the Manchester-bound carriageway below.

Two lanes were closed while paramedics treated the woman at the scene for serious head injuries.

She was rushed to Salford Royal Hospital in a critical condition but sadly died.

It is not yet known how the woman came to be on the bridge.

Officers cordoned off the scene and closed the exit junction to the A576 Trafford Park while the investigation continued.
