Winton and proud: Bid now for £18k seized from convicted criminals


Greater Manchester Police have thrown open their popular Community Piggy Bank event in Winton to distribute money seized from drug dealers and fraudsters.

A massive £18,000 is on offer to community groups who either work in Winton, or run community activities that make a difference to the Winton area.

You or your community group can apply for up to £1,500.

It’s the third Community Piggy Bank event that the police have run in Salford.

At both the previous Community Piggy Bank events in Ordsall and Little Hulton, SalfordOnline.com were again the only media covering the event.

Private businesses won’t be able to take part, but if you need funds for new equipment or kit, help transforming your street or even a little support for a new community group, now’s your chance.

The cash on offer has been taken out of the hands of convicted Salford criminals through the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Any bids submitted need to be sustainable, benefit the communities of Winton and be made by people either living, working or receiving education in that area.

The deadline to return your form is 12 noon on Monday 8th February 2016.

The shortlisted groups will go head to head with a two-minute pitch at St Patrick’s High School, New Lane, Winton on Saturday 27th February 2016.
