February court date set after Weaste baseball bat attack


A 20-year-old man arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm is to appear at Manchester Crown Court in February.

Jake Hines, of West Drive, Salford, came before Salford and Manchester Magistrates Court on Tuesday 19 January.

He is facing three counts of Section 18 assault and one count of possession of an offensive weapon.

A couple from Salford, 36 and 39, suffered serious head injuries when they were attacked with a baseball bat outside a house on Barff Road in Weaste in the early hours of Monday 18 January.

The pair were taken to Salford Royal hospital in a critical condition.

A 30-year-old woman also suffered a broken hand in the attack, which police said was witnessed by a large crowd of people.

Jake Hines was remanded in custody and will now appear before Manchester Crown Court on 16 February 2016.
