Man critical at Salford Royal hospital after attempted murder


Police have arrested a 20-year-old woman on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was hit by a car in Stalybridge.

At around 4.30am on Saturday 30 January 2016, police were called to Demesne Drive, Staybridge, following reports that a man had been run over by a car.

On arrival, officers discovered a 22-year-old man with serious head injuries and multiple fractures.

He was taken to Salford Royal hospital, where he is currently in a critical condition.

A 20-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, aggravated taking without consent, and multiple driving offences.

She remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Paul Walker said: “We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident, but we still want anyone who may have witnessed it to come forward.

“We believe that the man was struck by a blue Renault Capture at around 4.30am on Saturday, so if anyone was in the area at the time we would ask they contact police.
