Beechfield United Juniors weekend results

Once again the grass pitches at Beech Farm and Stott Lane were deemed unplayable forcing a number of teams within Beechfield United’s Junior Section to move their home games to a different venue. There were ten games postponed plus two teams were without a fixture.

Beechfield United Under 12’s (9v9) maintained their 100% record when they beat Parkwyddn Predators 3-1 away to remain top of Division 1. Parkwyddn who’s position in the table dosen’t do them justice made United work hard throughout for their victory. On a poor pitch the Storm made a fairly impressive start and had a couple of decent chances but Parkwyddn defended well however Beechy didn’t have to wait long for their first goal.

At end of a swift move Harry Gartley raced clear of the last defender then coolly took the ball past the keeper before rolling it into the empty net. Producing a spirited fight back Parkwyddn opened up the Storm’s defence and keeper James O’Donnell rescued Beechy with a couple of smart saves. After Parkwyddn had equalised from the penalty spot the match turned into a real battle royal as both teams showed great endeavour to overcome the difficult conditions.

Man of the Match James O’Donnell made more excellent saves to deny Parkwyddn the lead and Beechy were glad to hear the whistle for half time. Needing to step up a gear the Storm showed a bit more fluency in their play and United regained the lead when Kieran Robinson was fouled in the area and taking the spot-kick himself put Beechy 2-1 up. After the goal United finally stamped their authority on the match but failed to find the finish to some clear cut chances until Harry Gartley was on target again following some great play by Kieran Robinson. In the closing stages United played their best football of the contest and were delighted to have collected three valuable points.

The Under 11’s Thunder(9v9) switched their home game with Moston Stripes to Eccles College. In this Development Group Red fixture Beechy started the stronger of the two teams but Moston produced some solid defending and took the lead against the run of play. But United continued to put pressure on their opponents and got back level when Samuel Oludoyi set-up Prince Idusuyi who produced a neat finish then just before half time Prince Idusuyi scored again to give Beechy the lead. In the second half United took control and despite the Moston keeper making several great saves he was unable to prevent Beechy adding further goals from Jake O’Sullivan and Samuel Oludoyi. Producing an impressive all-round display was Sebastian Higson in what was probably Thunders best performance so far this season.

Moving their Development Group Blue Division home fixture to Eccles College were the Under 11’s Storm (9v9) who played Moston Tigers. Goals from Damion Broughton and Adam Rothwell secured Beechy who have created some stylish performances this season a comfortable victory. Voted Man of the Match was Ellis Craven.

The Under 10’s Tornadoes were away to Winton JFC for their latest Development Group Red match. The teams shared six goals and on target for the Tornadoes were Kaiden McClean, Charlie Mulvenna and Harley Davidson while Oliver Lomas received the Best Player Award.

Producing another good all-round performance were Beechy Under 9’s Typhoon who travelled to play Ladybridge Pumas. Goalscorers were Man of the Match Sonny O’Brien, Joseph Bothamley, Ronan Mullen and Freddie Latham. Both stand-in keepers Jamie Withington and Harley Bentley performed admirably. Daniel Hesketh scored with the last kick of the game but the referee said the ball hit the back of the net after the final whistle.

Eccles College was also the venue for the Under 9’s Storm versus Moorside Rangers Red encounter. This Development Group Purple game ended as a score draw. Josh McLoughlin who was the Storm’s Star Player netted the teams only goal.

United’s Under 8’s Hurricanes were in superb goalscoring form at the JJB Soccer Dome. Jayden Walker, Brett McWilliams, Ashley Tonge Alfie Gridlestone and Nazim M.Wali got the goals. Owen Bolton collected the Man of the Match Accolade.

Also playing at the JJB Soccer Dome were the Under 8’s Tornadoes. This Development Group Red Division game turned out to be very exciting with both teams producing some excellent football. Joshua Taylor, Qwen Hogben and Joel Thorndyke scored the goals and chosen as Man of the Match was Jonathan Lowery.

In the Development Group Blue Division the Under 8’s Storm met Monton Sports JFC at the JJB Soccer Dome. Beechy who produced a hard working display named Noah O’Connor as their Best Player.

Away to Ladybridge Lions were Beechy Under 7’s Hurricanes. Between them the teams scored nine goals in this Development Group Red fixture. George Mulvenna was the Hurricanes Man of the Match and the goals came via Ethan Harris, Lexi Hiles and Lloyd Hiles.

Swinton Junior Jaguars were the Under 7’s Storm opponents and it was hard to believe just how many chances the Storm created in this Development Group Yellow match. The prolific Kylan Twigg netted all four goals for Beechy who chose Matthew Cox as Man of the Match.

Celebrating their first win of the season were the Under 7’s Tornadoes who were away at Deans Sports in the Development Group Green Division. There was a hat-trick for Man of the Match George Rowbotham two goals from Harry Jones and one each for Fletcher Jackson and Harvey Riva.
