Police are investigating at a mini-market on Eccles Old Road after a man threatened staff, telling them he had a gun, and stole cash.

The robbery took place at around 4.10pm on Monday 20 April at the Hope shopping parade near Salford Royal Hospital.

By 4.35pm armed response units and police sniffer dogs had joined officers at the scene.

A lone male who had his face covered with a scarf walked into the Salford Costcutter and demanded cash from terrified members of staff, telling them he had a gun and would shoot them if they did not comply.

The store was closed while officers studied the scene and looked through CCTV footage of the robbery.

Officers detained a woman near to the store in connection with the incident but she was released a short time later.

Enquiries are ongoing to trace the offender.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111

In December 2014 the shop was robbed at knifepoint by a lone male.
