Delays on M602, M60 after five-vehicle smash

Drivers are being warned to expect congestion and delays on main routes in and out of Salford tonight after an earlier crash on the M62.

At around 2.30pm today police were called to the M62 eastbound at Junction 18 to reports of a crash between four vehicles and a HGV.

It’s believed one car approaching the motorway from a slip road clipped a lorry which had failed to give way. The car spun out across all three lanes, eventually blocking two.

An ambulance was scrambled to the scene but no-one was reported injured.

All lanes have since re-opened, but the crash is causing delays of around 20 minutes on the M60 approaching the Eccles interchange at Junction 12.

There are around 10 minutes of delays on the M60 clockwise between Junction 13 at Worsley and Junction 15, and on the M61 northbound near the A666 junction.
