Beechfield United Juniors weekend results


Back in action in the North Bury Junior Football League were Beechfield United Under 16’s who stretched their lead at the top of the Championship Division to seven points.

Playing for the first time in five weeks United enjoyed almost 80% possession in the away game against Elton and Walshaw Tigers and collected the three points thanks to a 3-1 victory.

On a poor pitch the home side were limited to just a few chances while Beechy despite not hitting top form held a deserved 1-0 lead at half time courtesy of a goal by Man of the Match Jack Healey.

Making a few tactical changes throughout the contest United produced their best football during the second half and Jack Healey made it 2-0 and the win was guaranteed when Fabio Convales scored the third goal. Against the run of play Elton and Walshaw Tigers were gifted a consolation goal.

Completing their fixtures for the current season were the Under 15’s who’s final Division 3 game in the Timperley and District Junior League was away at Woodhouse Park.

The match ended with a less than comfortable 5-1 victory for Beechy who shared a 1-1 scoreline at the break. Jack Turner scored two goals to take his seasons total to an impressive 20 and also on target were Callum Frier, Ben Crowther and Bradley Wheeler while Elliot Hogben picked up the Man of the Match Award.

The result left United occupying second place in the table but with outstanding fixtures still to be played the positions might change and Beechy could finish in third spot.

This has been the team’s best ever league campaign and both Manager Paul Leonard and Assistant Drew Hogben are rightly proud of this particular squad of players.

At Stott Lane the Under 14’s Tornados suffered two defeats in quick succession going down 6-0 in midweek to Oxford Grove followed by a 4-2 defeat against Hindley Juniors on Saturday morning. In the Section B match with Hindley Juniors goals by Matt Williams and Keiran Alley had given the Tornados a 2-1 lead at half time.

For their midweek Section B fixture the Under 12’s Tornados (9v9) were away to bottom of the table team Bolton Lads Club Yellow.

There was a slightly below-par display by Beechy in the first half and despite creating a few decent chances United were forced to do some vital defending and an evenly balanced first half ended 0-0. Gradually the Tornados took control and dominating possession upped the tempo and superb play by Jacob Wilson led to Beechy taking the lead with a controversial goal credited to Jeanny Le Blance.

Using the long ball tactic Lads Club kept United keeper James Hamnett fairly busy for a brief period but stepping up another gear Beechy went 2-0 up after Man of the Match Cameron Wright set-up Leighton White who fired the ball low past the keeper.

Keeping the pressure on their opponents United attacked non-stop in the last five minutes and producing a terrific solo run was Jacob Wilson and his stylish finish sealed a 3-0 victory.

Twice within three days the Under 11’s Tornados (9v9) scored six goals and celebrated two victories in the City of Salford Soccer League.

On Wednesday evening the Tornados enjoyed a 6-2 away win over Manchester Maccabi Ravens thanks a fine all-round display and goals from Shaun Heywood (2) William Kent (2) Max O’Brien and Jemelee Happy. Collecting the Man of the Match Accolade was Lucas Allen then at the weekend Beechy were away again when they met Parkwyddn Phoenix in the Division 3 Supplementary Cup. Man of the Match was Bradley Lydiate and goals for the Tornados who won 6-1 came via Max O’Brien (2) Ben Naylor (2) and William Kent (2)

The in-form Under 10’s Storm entertained Urmston Town Devils in their third successive home game. Some top-class soccer by United created a couple of very good goals scored by Bailey Lloyd. Beechy’s Star Player was Chartlie Armitage.

United’s Under 10’s Thunder faced De La Salle Reds at Lancaster Road and following a lapse of concentration by Beechy the home team took the lead.

In the second half Beechy looked a different team and put into practice what they had worked on in training sessions and were rewarded with two goals. United added a a third goal before De La Salle scored again minutes from the end. Samuel Oludoyi and Prince Idusuyi got the goals and following an excellent all-round performance Jacob Lacey was voted Man of the Match.

Both Under 9’s Teams played local opposition on Saturday morning. The Under 9’s Storm were away to neighbours Moorside Rangers Red and the teams shared four goals. Oliver Riva was named as Man of the Match and goalscorers for Beechy were James Edwards and Oliver Lawton.

Away at Dean Tigers the Under 9’s Tornados struggled to put the ball in the net while Deans scored several goals making a close and hard fought game look one sided. The Teams Best Player Award went to Charlie Mulvenna for an exceptional display, his determination and commitment was outstanding.

Beechy Under 8’s Thunder had a lunchtime kick-off for their Eredivisie Division match with Urmston Town Bears. In a relaxed atmosphere the contest was highly entertaining throughout and United held a narrow lead at half time. On target for Beechy were Sonny O’Brien and Reilly Happy and sharing the Man of the Match Award were Sonny O’Brien, and Joseph Bottomley who had a terrific game.

Moorside Rangers Yellow were the Under 8’s Storm’s opponents in the La Liga Division. Against their local rivals United created some stylish soccer and scored goals via Freddie Jackson and Jake Allen. The Storm’s Best Player was James Weston.

Also playing a Moorside Rangers outfit were the Under 8’s Tornados who met Rangers Orange in the Bundesliga Division. In the early morning sunshine the Tornados keeper Daniel Hesketh made several top-class saves in the first half but slowly took control of the contest. Man of the Match Kaden Atack and Jamie Withington got the goals.

Tom Worthington, Georgi Georgiev and Dominic Roaden fired in the goals for United’s Under 8’s Hurricanes in the away fixture with De La Salle Red. Collecting the Star Player Award was James Taylor.

There were two successive home games in the Bundesliga Division for the Under 8’s Lightning.

Charlie Harris scored two goals and was also named Man of the Match following the fixture against Moorside Rangers Orange. Aaron Worthington was on target when United played Winton Wanderers. Named as Best Player was Lucas Wood.

In action at Beech Farm Playing Fields were the Under 7’s Storm who played Swinton Junior Panthers. On target with goals for Beechy in this Premiership Division encounter were Oliver Percival and Michael Walsh while Noah Connor was Man of the Match.

The Under 7’s Tornados produced a brilliant first half display in their away game at Flixton Junior Dynamos. A superb all-round performance by Beechy included some great tackling and superb movement off the ball.

Flixton Juniors responded in the second period and played their part in an excellent 5 v 5 mini-soccer match. Goals by Ellis O’Brien and Man of the Match Joshua Taylor made sure honours were even.
