Lions roar to first win of the season


The Lions gained their first league win of the new season in the Gloucestershire sunshine running in eleven tries.
The home side took the lead in the seventh minute when Courtney Davies sent Toby Topham in for a try under the posts with Matt Bradley converting.

The scores were level four minutes later when Bradley turned down the chance to put All Golds further ahead when he decided not to kick a penalty and played the ball instead but it went to ground and Ben White swept up the loose pass and sent Shaun Robinson on an eighty metre run to score at the other end with Chris Atkin adding the goal points.

White added a try of his own on nineteen minutes when went through a huge gap to score by the posts and Atkin converted again.

Richie Hawkyard scored the next one when Atkin made a break for him to score under the posts and the provider added the conversion and then Aaron Lloyd playing at scrum half sent out a nice short pass for Matt Gardner to score on the left and again the conversion was good.

All Golds added a second try five minutes from the break when full back Joe Martin chased a kick to score under the posts and Bradley converted again.

Grant Beecham stretched the Lions lead six minutes into the second half when he chased a White kick to score in the corner and yet again Atkin converted. Stuart Littler added the next try on fifty-two minutes from a Mick Govin pass but this time the conversion was missed. Lloyd scored his fist Lions try four minutes later and this one was converted as the Lions started to through the ball around.

Robinson scored his second soon afterwards when Littler put in a nice short kick near the line and he won the race to score and then Richie Hawkyard scored his second thanks to some good work by Lloyd but both conversions were missed.

Andy Ackers scored the next one when he raced for halfway up the right wing to score and Atkin converted this one before Atkin himself got on the try scoring sheet after a nice pass from White and the full back added the conversion to his own try.

The home side scored the final try in the final minute when James Murphy scored in the right corner and Bradley converted as the hooter sounded for the end of the game.
