Police warn Irlam schoolchildren of ‘stranger danger’

Police officers attended St Teresa’s Primary School, Irlam on the morning of 30 April 2015 to speak with pupils about the dangers of talking to people they don’t know.

Whilst walking to school along Liverpool Road a man, aged between 40 and 50, with short grey hair and a bald patch placed his hand on a St Teresa’s pupils shoulder and then twice gently touched him on the cheek before crossing the road and heading towards LIDL.

He was described as wearing a brown coat possibly with a blue t-shirt underneath, black trousers and scruffy shoes when the approach happened.

No offences have been committed and officers are trying to locate the man to speak to him. It is a reminder that parents/guardians continue to speak to their children about ‘Stranger Danger’ and safety on the street.

The final bit of advice they put out to the students was to walk with friends when going to and from school.
