The Lowry Theatre was rocking as a bunch of very talented musicians performed the 20 greatest guitar riffs of all time (part two) to a very appreciative crowd.
Now in its sixth year the critically acclaimed show has the very best, most instantly recognisable rock anthems spanning many decades as part of their set list.
I was lucky enough to see part one of this show last year and was curious to see what rock gems they would come up with this time round.
Hit after hit come thick and fast.
And the vocals match the amazing guitar licks, especially Emily Jolland’s version of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rhiannon’, Alex Dee’s rendition of Meat Loaf’s ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ and George Harrison’s ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’.
Great video footage to the back of the stage and excellent use of lighting and lasers. most notably throughout Wings’ ‘Live and Let Die’ enhance the mood of the evening.
There are plenty of unmistakable hooks of timeless classics including ELO’s ‘Mr Blue Sky’ and Pink Floyd’s ‘Money’ which ensure the audience join in to belt out the classics throughout.
When the opening bars of Rainbow’s ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ echoed through the auditorium I was on on my feet and couldn’t contain my excitement as it is in my top five rock songs ever!
This show is two and half hours of rock heaven and it flew by. All too soon it was time for the closing number – The Who’s Won’t Get Fooled Again’ – and the band nailed it.
I am already looking forward to part three from this brilliant bunch who it is clear to see enjoy performing the show as much as the audience do watching it.
