Police launch arson probe after Walkden fire wrecks garages

Police are investigating a suspected Walkden arson after a fire started on a garden fence spread to and destroyed two garages.

Firefighters from Agecroft and Farnworth were called to a house on Hopefold Drive in Walkden on Friday afternoon.

It’s believed the fire started on a fence that backs onto Cow Lane, a pathway that runs behind the houses on the estate.

It quickly spread to two garages, one of which was entirely destroyed in the blaze.
