Boy sexually assaulted in busy Bolton cinema

Police are appealing to the wider public in Salford to help catch a man who assaulted a 14-year-old boy in the toilets of a Bolton cinema.

At around 8pm on Saturday 12 March 2016, the young teenager was in Middlebrook Vue Cinema in Horwich when he was approached by a man who sexually assaulted him before walking off.

The man was later seen to leave the cinema at about 10.20pm and was with a woman who appears to be around the same age.

Officers have identified a man they wish to speak to in connection with this incident and a number of enquiries to trace him have been ongoing.

Detective Constable Jon Ashcroft of GMP’s Bolton Division said: “We have been following a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident, which understandably left the victim feeling very upset, and we would now like to ask the public for their help to trace a man we wish to speak to.

“We have released CCTV images in the hope that somebody may recognise him and be able to assist us in identifying him.

“The cinema can be a busy place on a Saturday night so it is likely that somebody will have seen this man possibly watching the same film as them, queuing for a ticket or refreshments or even just stood around.

“If you saw him at the cinema and believe you may have information that can be of assistance to our investigation then please contact police.”

Anybody with information should contact police on 0161 856 5761 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
