Salford pubs to open late for Queen’s 90th

Pubs in Salford will get an extra boost to trade in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Pubs that normally shut up shop at 11pm will be able to serve drinks until 1am on the weekend of Friday 10 and Saturday 11 June.

The extra hours co-incide with England’s European Championship game against Russia.

The two-hour blanket extension measure was announced last week by David Cameron.

Venues have been allowed to stay open later for similar national celebrations including the 2011 Royal Wedding and The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

The Queen has two birthday celebrations every year: first for the actual day of her birth on 21 April, then again in June.
