Pictured: Weird skull found in tree at Worsley woods

Dad Alastair Bell from Worsley was taken by surprise on one of his regular dog walks in Worsley Woods when he and his 4-year-old son, Kealon, found the face of a skull in a tree trunk.

Alastair, 45, took some video at the scene, near a children’s play area deep in the woods.

The location is at the side of Old Warke Dam, behind the Bridgewater School.

It’s popular with ramblers, families and dog walkers alike.

Speaking of his unusual discovery Alastair told SalfordOnline: “I frequently walk through Worsley woods as I walk my dog there on a regular basis and on this occasion my son wanted to join me and play in the small play area.”

“He wanted to go on the play area for a little while and balance on the many cut down tree trunks in the area, and that’s when the skull on the tree trunk caught my eye.”

In a video taken at the scene Alastair nicknames his discovery ‘Yorick’ after the famous court jester’s skull from Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Alastair said he had never seen anything like it before.

“Initially I asked around the area to see if anybody else had seen it before and was surprised nobody had due to its location – it’s a busy area among dog walkers and families.”

If you want to see this for yourself you can find the skull tree next to the parallel bars at the furthest part of the adventure play area of Worsley woods, by the small white cottage.
