Police closed Regent Road for over an hour and a half on Sunday while they dealt with a serious smash on the main route in and out of Salford.
Paramedics were called to the A57, near the junction with Ordsall Lane and opposite Sainsbury’s supermarket, at around 4.05pm on Sunday 3 April.
One ambulance, a St John’s Ambulance and two rapid response vehicles were scrambled to the scene.
Officers found a black Renault Clio had collided with a blue Renault Megane at a set of traffic lights, scattering debris across the busy carriageway.
The road was closed while officers cleared the route, causing major tailbacks heading into Manchester all the way to the M602 Eccles interchange at Junction 1.
One driver was complaining of neck pain and was treated at the roadside before being taken to Salford Royal hospital for assessment.
A second person hurt in the crash was also taken to Salford Royal hospital.
A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance service confirmed that neither patient sustained major trauma nor life-threatening injuries.
Police finally re-opened Regent Road at 5.35pm.
