Metrolink system still down and is advising people to make alternative travel plans

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is advising people to make alternative travel plans and allow extra time for their journeys as work continues to repair a major systems failure currently affecting the Metrolink network.

Engineers are working as fast as possible to identify and rectify the issue, but it is not yet known when Metrolink services will resume and as such commuters travelling during the evening peak may be affected and should consider alternative modes of transport.

Stagecoach, First and Arriva bus services are accepting Metrolink tickets across the network and dedicated replacement bus services are currently being put in place.

In addition, Metrolink tickets are being accepted on Northern rail services across Greater Manchester and on Transennine rail services between Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.

Peak bus and rail services may be busier than usual and where possible people should avoid travelling at peak times (between 4 and 7pm) and should consider setting off before or after the evening peak if at all possible.

Details of bus services that operate near to Metrolink lines and which are accepting tickets can be found on the Metrolink website: www.metrolink.co.uk

Customers are advised to monitor the Metrolink and TfGM Twitter accounts for further information: @OfficialTfGM and @MCRMetrolink.

Anyone in urgent need of advice or information can call customer relations staff on 0161 205 2000.
