The match now ebbed and flowed, both teams missing chances, Alex, who was the rock at the back, broke forward and clipped the post with a tremendous shot.

Winton didn’t have to wait to much longer as they moved forward again and Kamari finished to score the second and with half time approaching, Ladybridge pressed forward and pulled one back.

In the penalty shootout, Ladybridge just edged out Winton, but well done to both teams for a very exciting match.

The U7s Spitfires were typically rugged and determined in their game against Deans sports, goals from Oliver and two from Alfie were part of a very pleasing day, where every player had a real willingness to get involved and win the game.

The Spitfires were as resolute at the back as always and a fine performance from Ryan earned him man of the match.

Winton Wanders U9s played Deans in a cracker of a match, Winton started off on the front foot and it wasn’t long before Niall scored from close range.

Winton continued to press forward with silky skills from Kai on the wing, Jordan working hard up front, came close to scoring Winton’s second. Deans came back into the game moving forward with purpose, whilst Deans were on the attack, Winton broke, Louis played a great ball over the top and it was finished superbly on the half volley by Charlie.

Bailey, in the midfield, was working hard, he won the ball, passing to Louis who scored another super goal from the edge of the box, not long after Deans broke and scored another.

Both teams continued to create chance after chance and In the final minute Deans won a penalty, Leon got his finger tips to it but couldn’t stop it and with not much time left, no team could score again.

A great game of football from both teams.

In recent league games Winton Wanderers U10s have been struggling to find the form they have showed in the cup.

Saturday’s game in development group yellow was against Monton Dynamos and after an even first half, Winton started the second half with little confidence and were forced to do the defending.

A fantastic performance from goalkeeper CJ, some skilful and determined defending by Callum and man of the match Joseph kept the Wanderers alive in the game. Winton were not without chances, but only converted one which was scored by leading marksman Caleb.
