1) Sounds From The Other City festival – Chapel Steet, Salford – Sunday 1 May – 3pm to 6am

A one-day only event of art and music in Salford.

Every May Bank Holiday Sounds From the Other City festival celebrates new music and performance along the historic Chapel Street corridor.

Taking place on Sunday 1 May 2016, it unites the cream of the national and international scene with some of the city’s finest independent promoters, collectives and club nights.

2) Westwood Park Primary School 100th Anniversary – Sunday 1 May – 11am to 3pm

A real local family event this: Call in at Westwood Primary School in Winton and enjoy a day of celebrations which include, animal petting, funfair, refreshments, dancing and even the unveiling of a replica of a 1916 AV Roe Bi-Plane!

3) G-Festival – Ellesmere Sports Club – Sunday 1 May – 12 noon to late

The biggest outdoor music and family event in Salford, celebrating its fifth birthday this year.

Music headlined by The Smiths Ltd, Inspiral Carpets tribute band and Mike Sweeney.

Fun for all the family, junior football tournament run by Salford Lads Club, Bars, refreshments and marquee disco till late.

All to raise money for deprived children in Cambodia in memory of Georgia, who died from heart surgery complications at 19.

4) Week 53 festival – The Lowry, Salford Quays – Thurs 28 April to Sunday 8 May

A festival of innovative, provocative national and international work in a series of spaces including areas of the building normally off-limits to the public.

A major commissioning project for The Lowry, it brings together contemporary dance, visual arts, music and theatre in interactive installations, exhibitions and performances.

Book tickets online to sign up for a free Festival Pass which provides exclusive offers and access to Week 53.

5) Saturday Playhouse – The Lowry, Salford Quays – Saturday 30 April – 11am to 12.30pm

A free and weekly art activity for children and their families in the dedicated Lookout space, taking inspiration from theatres, galleries and surrounding landscape at Salford Quays and MediaCityUK.

Suitable for ages 5-11.

Free.
