Are you passionate about education?

Want to make sure schools are providing the best possible education for children?

Why not consider becoming a school governor? It’s your opportunity to really make a difference.

School governors are the largest volunteer group in the country and come from all walks of life. They all share the same belief that children deserve the best possible education in the best possible schools. Being a school governor is very rewarding, but you’ll need to have the time to be able to commit to this important role and you will need to:

• be committed to raising standards in the school;
• have the inquisitiveness to question and analyse, and the willingness to learn;
• be supportive of the headteacher and staff and at the same time be able be able to take difficult decisions to make sure the children get the best possible education;
• be able to attend meetings, spend time getting to know the school and a strong commitment and dedication to the work of the governing board.

Governing boards particularly need people who have expertise and experience in analysing performance data, in budgeting and driving financial efficiency, and in performance management and employment issues.
