Watch: Plans in for second phase of Embankment Greengate dual towers

Ask Real Estate has announced it has submitted detailed plans to Salford City Council for the second of two towers in Greengate near Manchester city centre.

The two steel and glass office buildings, named 100 and 101 Embankment, will eventually sit 10 metres above the Grade 2 listed sandstone railway viaduct.

Phase one, the building of the 10-storey, 165,000sq ft 101 Embankment, is expected to be finished by September 2016.

442 car parking spaces are provided in a car park pre-let to operator Q-Park.

Now plans have been unveiled for 100 Embankment, with office accomodation split over eight floors.

The foundations for the building have already been dug as part of the phase one works, Ask say, drastically cutting the build time.

Embankment is a joint venture development between Manchester property developers Ask Real Estate, multinational construction firm Carillion plc, and London real estate investors Tristan Capital Partners.

Commenting on the application Ask Real Estate’s Managing Director John Hughes said: “The Embankment scheme has attracted significant interest from occupiers looking to move into the heart of the city centre.

“With a well acknowledged lack of Grade A space in the city and the imminent completion of 101 Embankment, the time is right to bring our second building forward hence the submission now of a detailed planning application to Salford City Council.

“We have been committed to delivering the second Embankment building from the outset and made provision to include all of the ground works in the first phase of development to ensure we could achieve a swift delivery.”

A planning decision is expected in mid summer.

If passed, the second phase is estimated to start in Q1 2017 with completion due Q2 2018.
