Moped gang smash up 50 cars in Salford and Old Trafford

Police are appealing for witnesses after three men on mopeds smashed their way into more than 50 vehicles in Salford and Trafford.

Shortly after 8.30pm on Tuesday 17 May, police were called after three men on mopeds were seen causing serious damage to cars in the areas around Old Trafford football stadium.

Many had their windows smashed and some property had been stolen including clothing, keys and CDs.

The men have been described as wearing black clothing and each riding on black mopeds.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have seen these men, or may have caught the incidents on CCTV to get in touch with police as soon as possible.

Inspector Matt Crofts of GMP’s Salford Division said: “These three men left a trail of destruction across Salford and Trafford last night, and didn’t care that they were damaging people’s cars, or stealing their belongings.

“We are doing all that we can to find those responsible. We are appealing for anyone who may have any information, may have seen the men or even better, have CCTV of them to get in touch as soon as possible.

“Any information could be vital in our investigation.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 8565127, email: salfordeast@gmp.police.uk or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
