Beechy Under 13’s Tornadoes finish season on a high

The Under 13’s Tornadoes played their last game of the season in the Salford and District Football League against local rivals Moorside Rangers Yellow.

The Beechy players made a confident start to this Division 1 fixture and thanks to a couple of goals from Jeanny Le Blanc and Leighton White United looked totally in control. But Rangers reduced the arrears when a Tornadoes player conceded a soft penalty and the spot-kick was converted.

Beechy immediately hit back and after the ball had been accurately crossed from the touchline Jacob Wilson hammered it home to put the Tornadoes 3-1 up. Creating a glut of easy chances United should have guaranteed victory before half time but they allowed Rangers the luxury of scoring twice to make it 3-3 at the break.

United regained the lead early in the second half courtesy of a neat finish by Leighton White but Rangers found an equaliser and both teams continually produced some exciting attacking soccer in this action packed contest. Jeanny Le Blanc was on target again when he restored Beechy’s lead but once again Rangers responded with their fifth goal and despite neither team having nothing really to play for there was certainly a highly competitive edge to the match.

Rangers edged in front but then a Moorside defender put the ball past his own keeper to make it 6-6. Stalwart and Team Captain Daniel Allerton scored with a rare header to give the Tornadoes a lead they wouldn’t lose this time. Jeanny Le Blanc completed his hat trick and the scoring via a superbly executed free kick from twenty-five yards and the Tornadoes were able to celebrate an 8-6 victory. Roll on next season.
