Haul of loaded shotguns and firearms found in cannabis farm

Police are urging the public to report anybody they suspect of possessing illegal guns after a raid on a cannabis farm unearthed an arsenal of weapons.

30-year-old Christopher Bryson from Rochdale was today jailed for seven years and eight months for producing the Class B drug in industrial quantities from his home.

The farm could have yielded 10kg of cannabis, police said.

Detectives who investigated the case said it was the “most substantial and lethal arsenal they had ever come across” from one offender.

Constable Russell Clarke of GMP’s Rochdale borough, said: “Bryson had amassed a deadly collection.

“The immeasurable impact that guns can have on the community is reflected in the sentence imposed today, sending a clear message to criminals that guns on our streets will not be tolerated.

“I urge members of the public to contact the police if they have any information regarding firearms in your communities, if needs be, confidentially via Crimestoppers.”
