Bank to help fund ‘financial literacy’ classes in Broughton and Kersal

Santander is to fund new courses in Broughton and Kersal to help people manage their finances.

A £3,600 grant from the bank’s Discovery Foundation will pave the way for charity Binoh of Manchester to start running a financial management programme for traditionally deprived communities.

Binoh provides voluntary sector support and advice for families in the east Salford area.

It main clients are from Jewish backgrounds but these new courses are open and available to anyone living in the district.

Rabbi Simon Grant, Director of Community Services at Binoh Manchester said: “This support from The Discovery Foundation will help us improve the lives of some of Salford’s most deprived members; we’re very grateful for this generosity and foresight.”

Jade Littlewood, Branch Manager at Santander’s Salford University said: “The Discovery Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK.

“Our branch is committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting Binoh of Manchester, and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”
