28-year-old charged after police stumble across 30 cannabis plants

A man has been charged with drugs offences after a cannabis farm was found in a house on Crossfield Road in Barton.

Police were called to the Crossfield estate, off the A57 Liverpool Road, at 5.20pm on Saturday 18 June.

It followed community concern that the place was being used as a drugs farm.

Officers forced entry under Section 17 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.

They discovered 30 cannabis plants in various stages of maturity.

A 28-year-old man arrested at the scene has been charged with producing cannabis and abstracting electricity.

He was released on bail to reappear on Wednesday 27 July.
