Urgent appeal for help with Baby Dan tribute

Stephen Walton from Eccles and his brother Glenn have set up a charity football match this weekend which kicks off at Brookhouse playing fields on Sunday 1 March at 11am.

This will be followed by a charity raffle and buffet at the Packet House pub in Eccles from 2pm.

Landlady Sharon Grey needs help to bring together commemorations for the young man, whose tragic death on Monday 16 February rocked the local community.

“As you can imagine everybody in the pub is absolutely devastated about the death of baby Dan, it’s every parent’s worst nightmare,” she told SalfordOnline.com today.

“I desperately need a bouncy castle for the kids to play on the Sunday also a gazebo in case it rains, which we hope that it won’t.

“If anybody could help out I would be so grateful as this will really help the day along.”

Thousands of people read SalfordOnline.com’s news story about the charity match.

Sharon added: “I have prepared a hot and cold buffet for the day and its free of charge, so I would ask everybody to call in on Sunday and make a donation, no matter how big or small.”

Anyone who can help is urged to call Sharon on 07834 767 260.

Stephen and Glenn have helped bring together over £2,000 with Paypal donations, and they hope to pull in more money for funeral expenses and costs with auctions of signed Manchester United and Manchester City shirts on the day.

If you would like to donate you can do so through Paypal to Waltonglenn7@aol.com until Friday 27 February.
