Volunteers celebrate successful first year at charity shop with launch of new service

A Swinton brain injury charity shop are celebrating their first anniversary and the launch of a brand new service.

Staff and charity volunteers joined forces with members of the public, brain injury survivors and carers for an afternoon of fun at the Headway charity shop, in Swinton Square shopping centre, to mark the charity’s first year on Saturday 16 July.

The shop, which supports families affected by brain injury, has gone from strength to strength since being opened last July by former soldier Paul Morville, 55, from Swinton, who sustained a traumatic brain injury while serving in the line of duty.

At the event, Shop Manager Ellie Brooke was delighted to announce the launch of the charity’s latest collection service which means that donors from across Salford can now call the shop and have their items collected by Headway’s newly appointed van driver, Michael Holden, from Swinton.

Ellie said: “We would like to thank all our loyal customers, exceptionally hardworking team of volunteers, and everyone who has donated stock to create such a great sense of community spirit at our store.

“The incredible support we have received, and continue to receive, from the local neighbourhood has turned our new shop into a real community hub for brain injury support, work experience and social development.”

Anyone wishing to volunteer or donate stock can contact Andrea Hogan on 0827 870 5707 or visit the Headway shop at 7 The Parade, Swinton Square shopping centre, Swinton.
