Salford City College host their own Olympics

The Foundation Department held their annual athletics day at Cleavley Athletics track in Winton, the weather wasn’t quite as hot as Rio but it was a lovely sunny enjoyable day in Salford

As always the day was a success with students having the opportunity to engage in track and field events and this year had the added events of archery and tug of war.

The event allows all students from the department to participate in an “Olympic style event,” which acts as an additional enrichment opportunity. Staff from across the College and Principal and CEO John Spinder also came along to support and competed against each other in a 400 meter race!

Student, Leanne Rowland said, “It was an amazing day, there were so many fun activities and a bonus of chilling in the sun with ice-cream” and another student, Chloe Hollyhead said, “It was really good fun especially the archery and watching the teachers in the sprinting race!”

Neil Hall, Foundation Tutor, “A big thank you to both staff and students for getting involved and making the event successful once again. These events can only go ahead with their support and enthusiasm. Hopefully it will live long in the memory for the students and will be something they can look back on with fondness for many years to come”.
