Emergency services were called to the footbridge crossing Broad Street towards Broughton Lane, Salford at 10.45am today, Tuesday, 2 August after reports of a woman on the wrong side of the barrier threatening to jump.
Police negotiators managed to talk the woman down at 10.50am.
She was taken to Salford Royal Hospital for examination.
Traffic was temporarily suspended but is now running smoothly.
