Heartless thieves steal gardening equipment worth over £1k from Little Hulton church

St Paul, Peel church in Little Hulton was targeted by thieves over the weekend who stole gardening equipment worth in excess of £1,000.

At 6am on Saturday, 6, August the thieves used a angle grinder to cut off the lock on a secure compound where the gardening tools are kept.

They stole a petrol driven field strimmer and three ordinary petrol driven strimmer’s, yet ignored the lawn mowers in the compound.

SalfordOnline.com spoke to Geoff Millard the Parish Community Hall, manager who told us more.

“This is a despicable theft and I am certain that this is the work of the same gang who targeted us twelve months ago when the petrol driven mowers were stolen.

“It is the same modus operandi as used last time, when they ground the locks off to break in, this time they ignored the replacement mowers and actually climbed over them to steal the strimmer’s.

“I am convinced that locals are not involved as we have a great community spirit here, with volunteers helping out with the maintenance of the church grounds and are a great bunch of people.

“We have informed the police and been given a crime reference number but I don’t hold out too much hope for their safe return”
