Sainsbury’s have signed up to open a new supermarket at the Embankment tower block scheme in Greengate, Salford.
The 2,850 sq ft store will open on the ground floor of 101 Embankment by the end of the year after signing a 15-year lease.
101 Embankment is due for completion in October 2016.
Neighbouring office building 100 Embankment was granted planning permission by Salford City Council in July.
Leon Guyett, Development Director at Ask Real Estate, said: “We are delighted to have agreed a deal with Sainsbury’s who will provide an essential offering for the occupiers of our Embankment office together with the surrounding workforce and ever growing residential population in the immediate vicinity.
He added: “The remaining retail unit on Chapel Street comprising circa 1,600 sq ft is also attracting a good level of interest.”
101 Embankment will provide 165,000 sq ft of Grade A office space and 100 Embankment will offer 166,000 sq ft of Grade A office space over eight floors.
A 442-space underground car park beneath the two office buildings has been pre-let to Q-Park.
Romy Clay, Sainsbury’s Acquisitions Surveyor for the area said: “We are extremely pleased to be opening a new store at Embankment, and look forward to welcoming our first customers when we open.”
