Sunday: Summer fete to raise money for Bridgewater Primary School fire fund

A Summer fete is being held this weekend in a bid to raise money for the Bridgewater Primary School, which sadly suffered from an arson attack in June.

There will be lots of games including a tombola, cakes and drinks and there will also be a performance from the StagePro Academy Worsely.

All of the proceeds made at the fete will go directly to the school so they can use it as they see fit.

This will take place on Sunday 14 August from 11am to 4pm at the Bridgewater Youth club on Bridgewater Street, Little Hulton.

The fires, which rocked the school back in June 2016, caused damage to the roof and the playground equipment outside.

A group of parents who have children who attend the school, have decided to come together and raise some money.

One of them is Mary Musgrave, 33, from Little Hulton, who said: “We decided that we would raise about £1,000 but we have gone over that. We want to raise as much as possible for the school after this awful incident. They could use this to help with the insurance costs or getting a new playground area.”

Alongside Mary are three other parents who decided to help with organising the summer fete including Nicola Ashton, Lindsey Piper and Beverley Knight.

Mary added: “We’re all parents from the school and although the damage only closed the school for two days the children were all devastated, especially about the playground equipment.”

Bridgewater Primary School was set alight on Wednesday 15 June which saw the windows blown out and had parts of the school damaged by smoke.

The school has also has a cake sale to help raise money.
