Top 5 things to do in Salford this weekend


Summer is in the air and the sun is literally cracking the pavements as they say, and here is our choice for the top 5 attractions in Salford this weekend.

Monton Festival – Saturday 4 July – 11am – 5pm

This is the big event of the year in Monton when Monton Road is crammed with over 100 stalls selling, books, jewellery, food, toys, craftwork,live music, a funfair and loads more.

Also lots of new bars and traditiobnal pubs, and a great choice of food on offer.

Family Fancy Dress – Saturday 4 July – 3pm – 5pm

Call in at Eccles Town Hall me hearties for a pirate themed fancy dress party, if no costume just put on a striped jumper and join in the fun.

Attractions include a puppet show, childrens entertainment, food and drink, sadly no rum.

Anthony McCarthy Art Exhibition – Saturday 5 July -10am- 4pm

Visit the Salford Museum and Art Gallery Community Art Galleryfor a new  exhibition by talented local artist, Anthony McCarthy who specialises in ink drawings which include many eccles pubs, some long gone.

Barton Air Show – Saturday 5 July – 10am – 5pm

Barton Airport will host the Manchester Airshow this year and it promises to be a cracking show, with air displays from 12pm, vintage vehicles, classic cars, a circus workshop, falconery displays, food, drink and plenty of fun for all the family,

Salford Red Devils – Sunday 5 July – 3pm – 5pm

This is a must win for the Salford Reds as they take on the Catalan Dragons in what promises to be a nailbiter of a game.

Admission is free so no excuses to get along to the AJ Bell Stadium and cheer on the Reds.
