Top 5 things to do in Salford this weekend


The Bank Holiday has finally arrived and hopefully the weather will remain bright and sunny, if not don’t let that you stop you from enjoying yourself as we present our five most family fun events this weekend.

Irlam Fringe Festival – Friday 26 August – 7.30pm – 11pm

Irlam Catholic Men’s Club will host six short plays by writers from the UK and US, with award winning directors and actors from stage and screen.

Doors open 7:00pm/curtain up 7:30pm

Limited parking – please allow plenty of time to find a space to park. Venue served by 67 & 100 buses, station 4 minutes walk away.

£5 admission.

Salford City FC – Saturday 27 August – 3pm kick off.

Get along to Moor Lane, Kersal and see the Salford City Reds who are in cracking form take on Gainsborough Trinity in what promises to be an exciting encounter.

£7 admission, £3 concessions.

Gay Pride Festival – Saturday 27 August – 12.30pm

This Saturday see’s the massive gay Pride Festival in Manchester when thousands of people take to the streets and this year Eccles will have its very own float for the first time!

So come along to Liverpool Street near Castlefield for 12:30 and be apart of the Big Event, and
look for the ‘Eccles Bakestone Float’ the Tastiest Float in the Parade!

Monton Music charity bash – Saturday 27 August – 2pm – Late

The Waterside pub in Monton are hosting an all day musical event, with BBQ, tombola, raffle etc and its all for charity. The event is being held in the memory of Gareth Jones, with proceeds going to the charities, CALM and Georgia’s Children.

£5 admission fee.

Irlam and Cadishead Community Festival – Monday 29 August 2016 – 09:00 to 21:00

Biggest Bank Holiday Monday outdoor, community organised event in Salford with live music, surprising street theatre, children’s entertainment, bouncy castles, beer tent, lovable ferrets, pony rides, gorgeous homemade cakes, community stalls, fun dog show and dog agility display.

Festival concludes with the annual festival firework display. For more details on the festival and the fireworks.
